First Bus rolls out Guardian in UK & Ireland
Seeing Machines is pleased to announce that it is working with First Bus, one of the UK’s leading bus operators, to deploy the Guardian driver safety system in numerous bus services across the UK and Ireland.
Following an extended evaluation of Guardian at the Reading RailAir coach service, running from Reading train station to Heathrow Airport, First Bus has decided to roll out the technology further across their fleet.
Phase one of the agreement is the fit-out of Guardian to a number of services in the UK and Ireland and has begun with Glasgow Buchanan Street Bus Station to Glasgow Airport. The installation across the region will comprise a mix of retrofit to existing coaches and new builds with Guardian pre-installed. This phase is expected to cover more than 70 buses and coaches and to be completed in early 2019.
“This further roll out by First Bus of our Guardian technology is evidence of the momentum in our Fleet business globally. We have a market leading offering and an unparalleled dataset in terms of quality and quantity,” said Ken Kroeger, CEO.
“As a result, we are seeing strong demand from a number of leading global transportation organisations wishing to implement Guardian in order to optimise safety to protect their drivers and passengers. Passenger transport has become a key market for Seeing Machines’ Fleet business with significant interest in particular, across the Northern Hemisphere.”
Terry Sparkhall, IT Systems Manager at First Group added “Implementing Guardian underscores our deep commitment to the safety of our staff and of all users of our services. As we continue to deploy and implement the technology in the next set of pilot locations, we are working closely with the managers, union and our drivers to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to see and understand the technology before it goes live in the selected vehicles.”
