Sheep Gate Trim makes the top 10.
So my photo of the Sheep Gate in Trim has been chosen in 8th place out of over 2,000 entries in the Wiki Loves Monuments photo competition.
TBH I didn’t even know this was a competition when I uploaded the photo to Wiki. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the first message to say that I’d been shortlisted and would I mind uploading a larger file that could be printed.
Did that and didn’t expect to hear any more until I got word that I’d ended up in the top ten! Cool beans as they say in China.
So yesterday evening myself and Lorraine headed off up to the big smoke for the exhibition of the said top ten photos. Turns out that Meath was well represented with two of the ten, mine and another of Loughcrew near Oldcastle.
Apologies for the next two photos as they were from the phone. Someone forgot to put a card in the camera……not mentioning any names, Lorraine……
Five of the top ten winners managed to make it to the event. Presumably the others were too far away to make the trip.
So it’s onwards and upwards as these ten photos go forward to the International Competition. Seems that this is the largest photographic competition in the world according to the Guinness World records so best of luck to all ten of us as we do battle with the rest of the world!
