Spent another fantastic day rambling around the Botanic Gardens today with friends from Navan Camera Club. The weather was kind to us all day and there were lots of flowers and squirrels shot. Late in the evening as myself and Lorraine headed back past the big greenhouse, I heard someone singing quietly. There sitting on a bench enjoying the late evening sun was Carmel and John. Carmel was serenading to John and he was thoroughly enjoying it. As we passed I said hello and made some small talk about the weather. The two of them were very chatty so I asked could I take a shot. They were over the moon.
“Hold on” says Carmel as she rummaged in her bag. She pulled out a book called True Grit, an autobiography of Frank McLintock which she had bought as a present for John for Valentine’s day. “John loves the football” she said. I told her she wasn’t to give it to him until tomorrow!
So the two of them posed with big smiles and I have to say, a happier couple you wouldn’t meet. They were delighted to have their photo taken and even as I was leaving John couldn’t stop thanking me enough. We had made his day!
