The Data Acquisition team are located in Canberra, Australia so we need participants who reside in and around Canberra.

Generally, participants need to be over 18 and hold a current drivers’ license. We need people of different ages, genders, ethnicities, cultures and appearances.

Certain data collections require families and children and allow people under 18 to participate:

• 16 and 17 year olds can participate when they are a sibling of another 18+ participant for specific data collections.
• For children under 17 years of age, they are able to participate with their parents/guardians/family for specific data collections.

Each data collection outlines specific requirements.

Participants need to create a Pike13 account* to sign up to data collections.

To create a Pike13 account, you will need to enter the following information**:

• Contact details: name, email, phone, address
• Demographics: age, gender, ethnicity, nationality
• Physical characteristics: height, weight

Pike13 is a booking and scheduling software that we use to manage data collections. It allows participants to:

• manage their profile and personal information
• book and manage data collection appointments
• receive necessary documentation to complete for data collection
• be notified of upcoming data collection campaigns.

STEP 1
Login to your Pike13 account and click on the relevant data collection campaign.
STEP 2
Select the date and time.
STEP 3
Click “Finish” to book your appointment.
STEP 4
A notification email will be sent to you confirming your appointment.

To change your appointment, you must cancel your current booking and book a new appointment with us.

Login to your Pike13 account and click on your upcoming appointment under “Upcoming Schedule”.

Click “Cancel” to cancel your appointment.
STEP 3
Select a new date and time and click “Finish” to book a new appointment.

Absolutely! Data collections are specific for each product feature and there is no restriction on how many data collection campaigns a person can participate in.

We have ongoing data collection activities and by creating a Pike13 account, our team will be able to contact you about further data collection campaigns you can participate in.

At times, we may conduct data collections at alternative locations in Canberra. This will be outlined on the specific data collection page.

The location of the data collection will also be listed when booking an appointment in Pike13 and reiterated in your confirmation email.

Data collection session durations generally range between 60 minutes and 90 minutes. This will vary depending on the data collection activity.

The approximate session duration will be outlined for each data collection.

Prior to the data collection, you will be asked to provide personal information and written consent to use this information in the development of our technology*.

If you have been asked to bring any equipment or props to use during the data collection, please prepare and remember to bring them with you.

*Seeing Machines data collection activities are fully compliant with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe, US, Australia and other jurisdictions.

Participants will be asked to perform a set of tasks by the data collector which will be recorded. Data collections can be performed in a variety of conditions including on-road, in a stationary vehicle, lab based and driving simulators. Tasks will vary depending on the activity – information will be provided beforehand and the data collector will provide instructions for each task on the day.

For example, some collections may happen in a stationary vehicle while others require you to drive the vehicle. Some tasks may be concerned with behaviours, such as looking at certain points, while others may be concerned with appearance, such as putting on sunglasses.

Participants will receive compensation in the form of a gift card for their involvement. Refer to the “Compensation” section below for more information.

Participants will receive a Prezzee eGift card as compensation for their participation in the data collection. Compensation amounts and details will be specified for each individual data collection.

Prezzee is a leading global eGift card platform that gives you access to hundreds of different brands. Their digital eGift cards can be swapped into one or more gift cards to any of their available retailers.

Your Prezzee eGift card can be used across any of the 180+ Retailers AUS wide listed on the Prezzee website. The list of retailers may change based on the value of the eGift card you receive as not all brands offer gift cards in every denomination.

Scan the QR code to view your eGift card on your phone or visit the URL.
STEP 2
Choose to swap it now or store it in your Prezzee wallet to spend later.
STEP 3
To swap, choose a gift card and the amount to swap to that card. Repeat until the money runs out!

You will be asked to provide the following information.

Personal and physical information are crucial in the development of product features. This information provides the necessary metadata that our Engineering and Innovation teams need to develop and enhance the algorithms that power our product features. The metadata and the video recording directly impact the accuracy and effectiveness of our product features.

Providing false or misleading information, particular regarding your physical appearance, will have an impact on the development of the algorithm and can affect the product feature.

Seeing Machines respects your privacy and is committed to protecting and managing the Personal Data we collect. There are three types of data that should be considered as part of our data collection activities. 

1. Your Pike13 account

Each person who creates a Pike13 account with us has complete control over their account and can choose to delete it at any time. When it is deleted, Seeing Machines can no longer see or access the details of that account. 

2. Data captured during data collection

As part of the data collection process, we capture recordings and metadata (e.g. age, height, ethnicity). The metadata is anonymized and connected using an ID number.

When participants sign the contract and receive compensation for their involvement in a data collection, Seeing Machines purchase the right to use their data and in that sense we retain ownership of the recordings and this anonymized metadata.

3. Participation records from data collections   

The Data Acquisition team keep a list of participant names for each data collection to:

• ensure a person is not captured more than once,
• distinguish between training and validation datasets,
• facilitate privacy requests, and
• meet our record keeping obligations for taxation.   

As stated in our Privacy Policy, individuals can ask us to erase or delete all, or some, of their Personal Data, so long as it does not impede our capacity to meet our legal obligations under relevant jurisdictional law. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.

Seeing Machines obtains personal information in the context of developing technology for a certain application such as automotive driver monitoring and assistance. When a participant signs the contract and receives compensation for their involvement in a data collection, we purchase the right to use their data in this context.

We work with other companies to develop technologies and products and as such will share recordings and metadata obtained through data collections with third parties as required. GDPR does not allow us to sell your data outside of that context.
